Course Description
Civil engineering is a discipline concerned with the design, construction and maintenance of the physically and naturally built environment such as roads, railway tracks, bridges, tunnels, ports, dams, and airports. It is divided into several sub-disciplines including structural engineering, water resources engineering, geo-engineering, surveying engineering, transportation engineering, and urban engineering.
The course covers these sub-disciplines and the subjects related to them. Much of the course emphasizes acquiring construction skills and the information technology based skills which will allow students to apply themselves to their jobs.
The course equips students to be:
1. able to apply their knowledge and skills to national infrastructure construction sites.
2. able to bring about innovations in technology;
3. creative in building environments encompassing technology and nature;
4. and reliable and responsible as professional civil engineers serving the nation and their local communities.
